Win an English Country Home in Shropshire
Why not start 2020 owning an idyllic country home in the heart of Shropshire, England with its rolling hills and award winning country walks. You look out of your bedroom window to see the cows grazing in the meadow under the 200 year old oak tree. The village peacock sometimes comes to your garden and shows off its feathers to let you know that you've made it. Not only do you own a £500,000 property but it's one of the nicest and best located houses in the area.

Everyone that comes into your new home falls in love with it. It feels warm and magical. Its 300 year heritage and English character literally exudes from the exposed beams in every room. Family and friends come for evening drinks and gather in the Farmhouse style kitchen with its oil fired AGA, loving that they are a part of this.

Not only does the property back onto a 13th Century Church and Longnor Hall with its Medieval Deer Park, you have virtually no neighbours.

And think how it would feel to be part of village life in an English country community where you own one of the nicest properties and friends are just a short walk away. Your neighbour is an award winning photographer who has worked for every major newspaper in the UK. Meanwhile historic Shrewsbury town is just 15 minutes up the road, and Church Stretton & Ludlow with their fabulous restaurants are just a short drive down. And the Welsh coast is only 90 minutes away, with Birmingham & Chester just an hour's drive.

Well don't blink, this is literally a 100% Once in a Lifetime Opportunity to live the country dream.

Tickets are limited and the Prize Draw will close in just:

TICKETS

The entry fee for the Prize Draw is £2 per ticket and requires you to answer a question about the area.

You can also earn additional free entries by sharing the competition online, and you get free tickets every time someone else helps promote the competition. Once you've bought tickets we give you your own customised link to promote, so go for it and increase your chances of winning.

There's even an extra £5000 reward for the person whose sharing activity results in the most ticket sales! We allow free written entry by 1st class post, and all entries either paid or free will be treated equally.

THE DRAW

While it may seem unusual, this is a 100% legitimate competition with the very real prize of the home featured.

The closing date for entries is January 31st 2020 at 1600hrs GMT and the winner will be drawn electronically in public at the house with the press (Shropshire Star) and a solicitor present, and notified by email and telephone.

The promoters hope to sell around 280,000 tickets to include transfer costs such as stamp duty and legal fees, and to complete any last minute jobs to ensure the house is as perfect as possible for the next owner.

But if 280,000 tickets are not sold, the winner will be offered 90% of the ticket receipts instead - a seriously life changing amount of money. We hope you agree that's fair.

DONATIONS TO GOOD CAUSES

The promoters also intend to make a significant donation to Hope House who support children with life-limiting illnesses and their families, and have informed them of our intention.

So get involved, win a dream home, and help others too!

Country Cottage for £2 anyone..? No Brainer!

So, What Do I Get?

Shrubbery Farm is located in Shropshire, in the beautiful semi-rural location of Longnor, just 15 mins south of Shrewsbury and 5 miles from Church Stretton, and an hour from Birmingham. There is a 13th Century Church to the rear and an oftsted rated 'Outstanding' primary school just a short walk away. It is THE perfect environment for raising a family in a friendly community away from city life.

# VALUATION: The property was valued in Summer 2019 by two leading estate agents at £545,000 and £520,000 respectively.  As winner the property will be transfered to you free of stamp duty and legal fees - yours to live in, sell, rent out, start an AirB&B business... or just keep in the family for investment purposes  - it could have DOUBLED in value in the last 10 years.

The detached freehold property was one of the original properties built in Longnor a few hundred years ago, and has been sympathetically extended and renovated 4 times. It is in good condition and consists of :

Farmhouse Style Kitchen
with a range of traditional cabinets, AGA, 10ft antique cabinet and gorgeous beamed ceiling, leading on to Walk-in Pantry with large Fridge Freezer and Dishwasher, and again leading on to further Utility with Fitted Storage, Washing Machine and Oil Fired Boiler.

Dining Room with more exposed beams, large mirror, and beautiful courtyard views. If required we can also leave you the Willis & Gambier extendable oak table, chairs and dresser. With open access to the kitchen this is a super room for entertaining in the evening and definitely the heart of the home, ideal for socialising and family gatherings.

Large Living Room #1 with built in library and Clearview multistove burner which gives out a lot of heat, and with French doors leading to delightful gardens. Again the exposed beams and wrought iron curtain poles & light fittings help to create the period character of the home (which was originally established c.1850 we understand and has been lovingly extended four times to a high standard, the last by us).

Study downstairs including desk, antique lamp, mirror and 5ft bookshelf, and leading on to the downstairs cloakroom.

Upstairs Landing with original oak floorboards throughout, with hall storage and leading on to

Master Bedroom with beams and 6.6ft wardrobe, and stunning views of the 200 yr old oak tree in the field opposite (which often has cows grazing).  Leading on to EnSuite bathroom with bath.

Bedroom #2 again with oak floorboards, exposed beams,  with panaromic views of the field opposite and much of the village.

Bedroom #3 with Laura Ashley single bed, exposed beams, and views of the managable garden with hedges and trees for privacy.

Family Bathroom with shower & wc.

Adjoining the house there is a separate self contained Annex ("The Granary") with its own entrance which we converted to a high standard when we arrived in 2003, and which contains:

Living Room #2 with exposed beams and traditional iron hooks, apparently used for hanging meat in the old days. Has been used as a self contained Home Office, then as a teenage Gaming Den with a large 5ft screen, and with a sofa bed for sleepovers and to put up Guests in their own space. Handmade oak staircase by local craftsman leading up to

Bedroom #4 with Velux sky lights which has been used as a Bedroom, a Music Room, and as Storage, leading on to Ensuite with small bath, sink & wc.

Garden is manageable and private with a range of mature shrubs and seating area with fig trees,  and the Drive has parking for 8 cars.

Courtyard at the front of the property has iron table & chairs, hanging baskets, stable door, second front door leading to Study, and large flag stones leading to charming front gate with high hedge for privacy.

Where is it?

The home is located in the centre of the quintessential English village of Longnor, at

What is the Local Community Like?

Longnor has a wonderful community made up of a real mix of people - parents with young and older children, couples who have chosen to settle in Shropshire for the outstanding natural beauty and local walks/cycling, and older retired people that love community life and being the surrounding countryside.

Village Hall next to the Church which is used for all sorts of local events (including pub night on the last Friday of every month where villagers volunteer to take turns to run it).

St.Mary's Church (est. 1257) which is THE most beautiful church you have ever seen and is right at the back of the house! Been to many christenings and even a few weddings there, and the local vicars are very much part of the community. And you will have your own footpath leading to the Church.

School Circle and Social Committee help organise school and local events, again all run by parents or people just wanting to help and take part in School Fetes and other fundraising activities for the Ofsted rated 'Outstanding' school.

Photography courses run by an award winning photographer who lives next door.

Directly behind Shrubbery Farm is St. Marys Church (below) and Longnor Hall with its Medieval Deer Park.
